Most “my BlackBook is doing X” problems turn out to be software — the operating system, a driver, an update or a virus — rather than a fault in the hardware. Working out which one it is decides what happens next: software we can usually fix with you over the ticket; hardware means a repair.

Quick checks first

  1. Restart the machine fully (Shut down, wait ten seconds, power on) — not just close the lid.
  2. Run Windows Update and install everything offered, then restart again.
  3. Check the Venom downloads page for your model’s current drivers and BIOS and install any that are newer than yours.

The definitive test: factory recovery

To rule software out completely, run the USB recovery drive supplied with your Venom. Instructions are on the recovery drive packet. The recovery wipes everything on your primary drive (C:) and returns the machine to factory settings — back up your data first. Then check whether the problem is still there:

  • Problem gone — it was software. Reinstall your programs one at a time and watch for it returning.
  • Problem still there on a factory-fresh system — it is hardware. Open a ticket with your serial number, a description of the fault and, if you can, a photo or short video of it happening; we will arrange the repair under your cover.

If you are not comfortable running the recovery yourself, open a ticket first and we will walk you through it.
